About the School

St. Andrew's Nursery School is a nonprofit organization administered by a special committee under the guidance of the Christian Education Committee of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.

Organization

The school is administered by a Director certified in Early Childhood Education.  Each class is under the direction of an experienced certified Teacher, who is assisted by a Teacher Aide.  As part of the voluntary cooperative program,  parents, grandparents and/or caregivers may assist in the classroom.  This enables the child's learning process to become a family affair, and offers parents an opportunity  to see their child interacting with his or her peer group.  Since certain responsibilities are assigned to Parent Helpers they are asked not to bring younger, or older, children along with them when assisting in the classroom.

Program

Documented research has shown that three, four, and five-year-olds learn best through a focused play program.  St. Andrew’s Nursery School supports this “learning through play” philosophy.  Our activities are conducted in a non-pressured, child-centered environment.  Through our excellent pupil-teacher ratio and child-oriented facilities, we are able to offer a program that is varied both in content and implementation.  St. Andrew’s is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Purpose

The purpose of St. Andrew’s Nursery School is to provide the pre-school children of our community with the opportunity to learn and grow as individuals in a developmentally appropriate environment, and to complement and support the family unit in this process.

Mission

The Mission of St. Andrew’s Nursery School is to strive to promote each child’s physical, social, emotional, moral, and spiritual development in order to help the child develop compassion for others, a sense of independence and a positive self-image
